| | | | | | | | | | | WELCOME TO ELTHAM MEN'S SHED | | |
| Established in 2014, Eltham Men’s Shed is a community-based, not for profit, volunteer organisation that provides a safe and friendly environment where men can meet other men, develop new friendships and connect with their community. Our purpose is to support the health and well-being of our members.
The Shed offers a variety of social and practical activities throughout the week including Wood and Metal Workshops, Bicycle Restoration, Gardening, Technology and Photography. Members are able to work on projects at their own pace in their own time and in the company of other men.
Our weekly social gathering updates members on current activities, invites guest speakers and provides an opportunity to enjoy a cuppa and chat. A variety of other social activities are available including group travel, 4WD outings and dinners.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | Eltham Men's Shed celebrates its 10th birthday | | |
Monday, 23 September 2024
| The Eltham Men's Shed has celebrated its 10th birthday.
In late 2013 the local Rotary Club came up with an idea. Let's see if there is interest in establishing a Men's Shed in Eltham. Rotary sponsored a community meeting from which a steering committee was appointed and 6 months later the Eltham Men's Shed had its first meeting. These meetings were iitially in space provided buy the Judd Book Village. In 2016 after an extensive search for a permanent home, the Nillumbik Shire Council made availabe the current site which until then had been a kindergarten.
From a modest membership of about 40 the shed has grown and now has in excess of 130 members.
It is open most days of the week with an extensive range of activities including:
- Wood and Metal Workshops - Garden Group - Bike Repair Workshop - Genealogy Group - Walking Group (3 times a week) - Bike Riding Group (twice a week) - Music Group - Inner Workshop (Men's Group) - Picture Framing Group - Tool & Toy Refurbishment Group - Digital Photography Group - Technology Group - Games & Gossip Group
|
And there are regular social activities:
- Monday meeting of all members - Dine-out dinner each month at a local restaurant - A monthly inhouse lunch - End of month evening BBQ - Regular Outings. |
The photo to the right shows Greg Mitchael receiving his life time membership award at the 10th birthday celebtations. Greg was there at the start and has been an outstanding contributor to the success of the Elltham Shed.
He is accompanied by his fellow lifetime members, Jim Gundrum the first President of the Shed, and Harry Morris the first Secretary of the Shed.
Without the efforts and drive of these three along with the help of many others, the Eltham Men's Shed would not be the thriving Men's Shed that it has become. |
